Spent yesterday at the National Museum of the Marine Corps with my son, who took my obligatory photo with a Corsair. Engaging, sobering museum, especially the new exhibits on the past 25 years. Also saw the plaster Oscar award for “With the Marines on Tarawa.”

Unless, of course, your retreating for some much-needed respite, even at a seemingly appropriate time, is viewed as being "unwelcoming," "cold and distant," and a "bad host," for which you will be punished the rest of the holiday season...
A couple good things about being the host for a holiday gathering is not having to travel and also having your own bedroom to retreat to if you need a little break from everyone or the perfect place to stress eat a whole pie in peace

Got the Fighters of Europe #wargame to the table tonight. My Luftwaffe Me109s wiped out the RAF Spitfires with only one loss, but it was a good learning game with my son. He’s now interested in playing more scenarios. Of course Hera the cat wanted to play...with all the pieces.

Got the Fighters of Europe #wargame to the table tonight. My Luftwaffe Me109s wiped out the RAF Spitfires with only one loss, but it was a good learning game with my son. He’s now interested in playing more scenarios. Of course Hera the cat wanted to play...with all the pieces.
