Frankenstein (2025)

9/10
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀

Beautiful. Finally a film that does Shelley's original story justice. Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi nail the father & son/God & man relationship. The shots are stunning. The effects are grisly yet beautiful. Del Toro once again shows us the humanity in monsters.

The Children of the Corn (1984)

7/10
🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽💀💀💀

A solid film. John Franklin steals the show as Issac, the charasmatic cult leader. The juxtaposition of the cult with midwest Christian fanaticism grounds the otherwise ridiculous concept in reality. The effects are rough, but the story is good.

Bordello of Blood (1996)

6/10
😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀💀

Lilith is a great vampire. The Funeral Home/Brothel is a unique setting. Dennis Miller just spouts jokes, a couple zingers but he's mostly annoying, like the real Dennis Miller. Chris Sarandon is hilarious. A good cult classic that could have been great.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986)

8/10
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀

Disturbing and depressing. Gritty and relentlessly dark. Michael Rooker as Henry is depraved and mysterious. For him, violence is a meticulous compulsion. The relationship between him and Otis is fascinating. Basically the perfect date movie

Night of the Demons (1988)

7/10
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀

Some classic 80s horror. Some friends FA with demons and FO. Gives strong Evil Dead vibes. Great makeup effects with some standout scenes. Good friend group. Great atmosphere makes up for a thin story. Linnea Quigley and Amelia Kinkade are absolute icons.

Hell House LLC: Lineage (2025)

2/10
😱😱💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

Wtf even was that? I've seen every Hell House at least twice. For the final entry that should tie it all together, I left more confused. Where's Tully? WHERE'S HELL HOUSE? The one positive is by not being found footage, it's actually quite scary.

Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988)

8/10
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀

Very funny! Like Pee Wee meets Mel Brooks. She ends up in a small conservative town, very fish out of water. She not only refuses to change but helps the kids be themselves. The plot with the uncle is fine, but the kids stuff is heartwarming.

Madman (1981)

5/10
😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀💀💀

It ticks all the boxes of an 80s slasher. He's an axe wielding woodsman killing campers in the woods. After Michael and Jason, it does little to stand out among the other 80s slashers, which makes it fairly forgettable. Recommended for 80s slasher enthusiasts.

M3GAN 2.0 (2025)

7/10
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀

Takes more inspiration from T2 than anything horror. A scifi spy comedy. All that being said, it does revel in its own absurdity without somehow completely jumping the shark. Laugh out loud funny with impressive visuals and just enough plot to keep it interessting.

With V/H/S Halloween coming out and the titulatlar holiday being right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to review every V/H/S short. There is now a total of 49 shorts. I'll be going from least favorite to favorite.

Bubba Ho-Tep (2002)

8/10
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀

JFK and Elvis (below) must defend their nursing home from an evil mummy. A wild concept that's outrageously funny but built on heart. Are these two men crazy like everyone thinks? Does it matter? They find eachother and find the hero still left inside of them.

Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor (2023)

6/10
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡💀💀💀💀

The best acted film in the series. The characters are all distinct and compelling. There are some good scares. It delves into the history of the clowns. I miss the hotel as a setting, it feels separate from the rest of the series.

Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire (2019)

5/10
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡💀💀💀💀💀

An odd concept they never really sell. Like the first, only instead of making the hotel a haunted house, they're doing a walk-through production of Faust... I enjoyed seeing more of Tully and his plan, but the leadup is a poorly-acted cliche.

Hell House LLC 2: The Abaddon Hotel (2018)

5/10
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡💀💀💀💀💀

A mixed bag. The hotel is abandoned, the site of a tragedy but also a mystery. The acting can be very distracting and the pacing is all over the place. This film introduces Andrew Tully, one of the more intriguing characters in the series.

Hell House LLC (2015)

6/10
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡💀💀💀💀

A fun found footage film about people making a haunted house that's actually haunted. The scenes where the opening night goes wrong depict public panic in a very scary way. The performances are mixed and the dialogue can be stiff, but it's overall well done.

Abbot and Costello Meet the Invisible Man (1951)

7/10
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀

The best comedy duo and the Invisible Man, a good setup for hijinks. Similar plot to the 2nd film, but funny. Love watching the Invisible Man shuffle cards and Costello thinks he's cheating. Funny but still faithful to the series.

The Invisible Man's Revenge (1944)

5/10
😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀💀💀

After a few entries that reinvented what the franchise could be, this film takes it back to basics. Sadly, it can feel more like a retread, not bringing anything fresh to the series. The darts scene is fun, not an awful film, just forgettable.

Invisible Agent (1942)

7/10
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀

The Invisible Man flies to Nazi Germany to spy for the Americans, and I'm here for it. Frank is likeable and charasmatic, like if Indiana Jones could turn invisible. Peter Lorre is great as always. The effects are incredible, especially when he takes a bath 🤯

The Invisible Woman (1940)

7/10
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀💀

Less drama, more comedy. Very different from the last two. The professor and the Invisible Woman are fun together as they deal with bumbling gangsters who want to harness her invisibility. The effects are less impressive, but it's a fun screwball comedy.

The Invisible Man Returns (1940)

8/10
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀💀

A clever sequel with a new Invisible Man who's been framed for murder and uses his invisibility to find the real killer before the serum drives him mad. A gripping plot, likeable protagonist, and oscar nominated effects. Nearly as good as the first.

The Invisible Man (1933)

9/10
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💀

The film is almost 100 years old and still has some of the best effects ever put to film! Claude Rains is gleefully wicked and the plot properly conveys the threat he poses. The manhunt for the invisible man and the final confrontation are captivating.

Sleepy Hollow (1999)

7/10
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃💀💀💀

Tim Burton brings his style to the classic story. Ichabod is now a coroner. The film makes lots of changes to the setting and story, turning it into a convoluted whodunit, but the gorgeous visuals, creepy atomosphere, and unique style make it worth a watch.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1999)

6/10
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃💀💀💀💀

A faithful adaptation that captures the setting and protagonist perfectly. Carver's Crane is a laughably overconfident "intellectual" blessing the hard working locals with his knowledge. It's held back by poor pacing and cheap effects. Not bad.
