The Libertarian Party has five listed purposes for existing:

1) being a separate libertarian political entity
2) electing Libertarian candidates
3) organizing affiliate parties
4) nominating and supporting candidates
5) informing the public

Since 2022, leadership has failed at those purposes.
ARTICLE 2: PURPOSES The Party is organized to implement and give voice to the principles embodied in the Statement of Principles by: 1. functioning as a libertarian political entity separate and distinct from all other political parties or movements; 2. electing Libertarians to public office to move public policy in a libertarian direction; 3. chartering affiliate parties throughout the United States and promoting their growth and activities; 4. nominating candidates for President and Vice-President of the United States, and supporting Party and affiliate party candidates for political office; and 5. entering into public information activities.

A good start is to have the purposes of the party set out in the bylaws that govern the party.

Writing the purposes down helps members and leadership keep the party focused on work that advances the purposes of the party.

They believed in democratic self-governance. They believed government had legitimate purposes beyond protecting property. When Jefferson wrote about “promoting the general welfare” and “securing the blessings of liberty” in founding documents, he wasn’t paying lip service. He meant it. Locke’s social contract theory—which deeply influenced Jefferson—saw government not as necessary evil but as essential good making liberty possible.

This sounds principled until you realize what it means in practice. If property rights trump every other consideration, then those with property set the terms. Those without property accept them. And because property compounds—wealth generates more wealth, ownership enables more ownership—you get systematic concentration of power in private hands.

It's not just talk for Republicans, you know—the Nazism. Unlike Chris Booth, they're acting directly on it. They've got masked anonymous brutality squads in our major cities, kidnapping people based on their appearance—which means their race—and packing them off into domestic concentration camps, and shipping them off to foreign slave camps and wherever the hell else. Kidnapping people based on race is something the Republican-appointed members of the Supreme Court said was fine, although they approved it on the shadow docket and didn't bother to expound much beyond the fact that they just kind of reckon it's fine. The Vice President just repeated the baseless "eating dogs and cats" line about Somali immigrants that was such a laugh line during the election. The kidnap/brute forces tear-gassed a children's birthday party recently. And Republicans are talking about work camps for our nation's ever-increasing number of homeless people—even though most homeless people already have jobs. And Republicans are working very hard to end any semblance of free and fair elections at every level. And I want to stress, this is a very very limited list of examples; it's just things that are sitting at the front of my mind as I write.
