It seems Wiles learned—as many children of alcoholics do—that placating the person was the wisest and safest choice. But she is an adult and Trump is not her father. Her job shouldn’t be to cater to the president’s every whim, even if she believes he is being unwise.

I’m not sure how to explain it exactly but I almost am angrier at the swing and unlikely voters who voted for Trump than his rabid fans. The latter are racist assholes, the former ostensibly might know better.

Even if we would stipulate that the *only* purpose of college is vocational training (ugh) if you think you, at 18 years old, not only know for sure what your future career will be but also know better than all the professors at a college what skills you will need for that career, why bother?

Totally agree and strongly dislike when people say this because they are obviously either completely disengaged from reality, or say this to absolve themselves from actually doing anything. But on Pharrell specifically, I once interviewed him and he was unbelievably high or extremely stupid. Or both
