Temp office set-up for the day as my main office gets moved floors … course be worse :)

Oh ours are not pasties, they are very much pies, with a savoury flaky pie crust. Most popular are the hand-held single sized ones, but you can also get them in family size too

Meanwhile, I’m nowadays not landing 2-seater Cessnas here, I’m sitting with a beer finishing the last of my student research paper grading. Smidge different :)

It’s weird, when I was 15, I was going through student pilot training in 2-seater Cessnas out of Mosgiel Aerodrome, and occasionally we’d do landing & takeoff practice at Dunedin Airport on tarmac.

And now I’m here again, more than three-and-a-half decades later, looking out at that same strip.

Ōtepoti Dunedin … you were gorgeous today.

Can’t get over how damn good the new Beresford Square entrance to one of the new underground CRL stations looks …
November 17, 2025 at 9:35 PM
But till I do, this bike could be worse :)
November 15, 2025 at 7:58 PM
So looking forward to when I have a big electric motorcycle and can ride proper distances much further afield.
November 15, 2025 at 7:46 PM
Could be worse before grading papers …
November 15, 2025 at 7:13 PM
I mean, I made it, so at least I know I can handle it, but jees …
November 12, 2025 at 7:57 AM
Well, that was genuinely awful. Riding home in that storm pushed me a tad too far out of my comfort zone. I made it home safe, but the rain was so heavy my bra & underwear were wet. And the wind over the Harbour Bridge was so strong & gusty I had to reduce speed & physically muscle the bike in-lane.

Motorcycle advantages: continual free rock-star parking :)

Exciting Saturday evening cleaning the cheek pads from my helmet.

Post you from a different era.

Me, a wee femme thing, on the couch of my first long term girlfriend, around 1996 I think.
November 8, 2025 at 1:58 AM
Oh btw, in case you're wondering about the bikes I am mentioning here, these are the DSR/X Black Forest (the tall bike with the hard panniers) and the SR/S (the red sports bike).
November 6, 2025 at 7:12 PM
Love this city … feels like summer is about to be here, finally
November 5, 2025 at 11:46 PM
Yeah, I love the look particularly of the white DSR/X bike one guy took around the world, that white colour is just gorgeous I think.

I test rode a 2025 Zero S when I was over in Australia in February, and took these pics ... you're right, they're absolutely gorgeous bikes.
November 4, 2025 at 9:45 PM
I even test rode a 2025 Zero S in February of this year when I was over in Melbourne for a conference, and goodness I loved the styling so much (see attached pics I took of it - note this is in Melbourne summer heat too!).

Honestly if I got any other Zero I'd consider getting a wrap in that white.

Also, the partnership between Electric Motion and Yamaha Motor Japan that was announced a year ago is showing off their first concept, the YE-01 Racing. Don't know specs as yet, but I'm sure the design will have dirt-bike folks seriously interested.
November 4, 2025 at 7:36 PM
They're also saying a bigger 20.2kwh battery and that you can add just under 100km of range in 15 mins. It's also getting a NACS charging port for the US market (alongside the CCS2 one for the rest of the world), and bigger screens.

They also showed off a prototype of their upcoming scooter model.
November 4, 2025 at 7:33 PM
Then we have NIU, which is known in NZ as the most common electric scooter (ie moped-style scooter) manufacturer here. They're continuing their refinement of their lineup, including the new NQiX 1000 (125kph, 100km range, Google Maps inbuilt) and new high-tech-focused FQiX Series 150 & 300 models:

Next up ... Royal Enfield showed off their new Flying Flea model (before the first model is on sale no less) which will be a scrambler variant, the FF.S6.

No word on specs just yet, but I imagine it's not too different from what the original Flying Flea variant will be, but it does look quite cool!
November 4, 2025 at 7:18 PM
However, Zero also revealed a new scooter, the LS1, with removable batteries, 115-170km of range, large storage under the seat, designed to be an affordable step into their lineup.

They also gave some concept prototype hints at what I think will be a 150cc equivalent 8.8kwh urban commuter: Lompico.
