Yup, true polymaths are extremely rare.

But yet we seem to do it with "business leaders" all the damn time.

The way in which we in this country valorise & sanctify those who make lots of money in the private sector as the pinnacle of geniuses who should have their thoughts automatically given extra credence is part of why this country is in the shtook economically, socially, etc.

Yay snow! Meanwhile, here it's supposed to get up close to 80F today and tomorrow, with humidity in the 70% range.

I am willing to consider an argument for Scotland to have their meat pies potentially on a level equal to NZ and Aussie, because Scotland.

Oh British meat pies suck balls … New Zealand and Australian meat pies however? Seriously incredible stuff. It’s about as close to a national religion as we get here. There’s annual national competitions.

I’m sorry, but this is an attack on Aotearoa New Zealand culture and I will not stand for it bsky.app/profile/sara...
Oh ours are not pasties, they are very much pies, with a savoury flaky pie crust. Most popular are the hand-held single sized ones, but you can also get them in family size too

I kinda have a hankering for those plastic covered pies every now and again … not because they’re good per sae, more the nostalgia that that is what we had when I was growing up :)

Possibly as close as we come to a national religion in the country … petrol/service (gas) stations compete amongst themselves to have the best pies. Tho too there is something to be said for the opposite end of the spectrum: the nostalgic plastic-package warming-drawer mysterious-quality-filling pie
