Lover of cake, tea, quiet & campervans.
My latest foray into the world of television history starts TOMORROW, channel 5 at 8.05pm.
The production team 'Coming Up Roses' were an absolute delight to work with.
I'm not sure I can bring myself to watch 🙃

Caffeine and biscuits - the ONLY way to get through the final stages of book footnotes (ESPECIALLY when four authors have worked on those footnotes at various points in the writing process!) #thekingsdinner #amwriting #18thC #foodhist #skystorians

I'm increasingly irritated by International Women's Day BUT there is no better day to acknowledge one of the most incredible women I know, who died this week. Margot was clever, & kind, & endlessly supportive. I will miss her.

Probs a good job this is behind a paywall given the number of rejections I've had since finishing my PhD...

After much deliberation I chose these lovely Gillray prints to brighten up my office walls. I love how human they are (which is incidentally what I love about writing history too!) #18thC #skystorians 🗃️

Well, my bank's end-of-year roundup of my favourite eateries is depressing! I'm going to blame the kids, and try harder to be less trashy in 2024 🤣

Six years! Six!! Feels both really recent and a million years ago all at once! Maybe this year, I will get to wear my outrageously ostentatious robes again....

Our Kings Dinner work got a mention on HIGNFY last night! They called it a 'major new academic study' which is a fun way to describe 'googling #18thC cooking terms'! @historybeagle.bsky.social @adamcrymble.bsky.social
