Chief Judge Patrick Schiltz, the top federal judge in Minneapolis, rips into ICE:

"ICE is not a law unto itself."

"ICE has likely violated more court orders in January 2026 than some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence."

I know all eyes are on Minneapolis, but there's a fast-approaching nightmare in Springfield, Ohio.

Trump is revoking protected status for tens of thousands of Haitians living there on Feb. 3.

Reportedly, on Feb. 4, 1000 ICE agents are arriving to remove this population. Ethnic cleansing.

"DOJ personnel should not voluntarily disclose a photograph of a defendant unless it serves a law enforcement function or unless the photograph is already part of the public record in the case."

That's why BOP and the Marshals don't release federal mugshots. www.justice.gov/jm/jm-1-7000...
Since we published this, Pam Bondi's X account has started posting mugshots of Minnesotans arrested for impeding ICE/CBP. Sharing a defendant's photo publicly in this way is forbidden under DOJ rules
ICE and CBP are at the head of Trump's campaign to terrorize Minnesotans. But the Justice Department is not far behind.

The President's ego is so bruised from having lost the 2020 election that rather than investigate actual threats to the safety of the American people or even focus on making life a little bit more affordable for Americans, he's directing his FBI to flatter his wounded pride with this nonsense.

I don’t think it an exaggeration to say that this year — between now and late January 2027 — will determine the future of America and much of the world.

What so you think America will be like on January 28, 2027? https://robertreich.substack.com/p/office-hours-what-will-america-be

The anthem we need
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

As we resist Trump’s tyranny, America gains solidarity.

As we gain solidarity, we feel more courageous.

As we feel courageous and stand up to Trump, we weaken him and his regime.

As we weaken Trump and his regime, we have less to fear.

Congresswoman @ayannapressley.bsky.social has been trying to get qualified immunity eliminated her ENTIRE career.

What the fuck is it going to take to get people to listen to her?
There's no ICE accountability without ending qualified immunity.

They're murdering people. There won't be justice for the lives they've stolen, but there must be accountability.

My bill with @markey.senate.gov would ensure families can sue the agents murdering their loved ones.

The devil will be in the details here, of course, but this is a good start. It’s not everything. ICE is still out of control. This doesn’t change that.

But you start somewhere. Take the points, build on the momentum, keep up the pressure.

Don’t forget those who sacrificed to get us here.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

Stephen Miller and JD Vance have spearheaded both the Greenland and Minnesota disasters. Focus needs to be on them now, not the middle managers.
In Feb, 2025 Trump was 50%-41% on immigration. Today he’s 39%-53%, a stunning 23 point net drop on his signature issue. Way to go Stephen Miller!
American approval of U.S. President Donald Trump's immigration policy fell to its lowest level since his return to the White House in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll, with a majority of Americans saying his crackdown on immigration has gone too far.

Of course he does. Is this a joke? He defended the guy who killed Good. He’s told multiple people that he thinks protesters should be attacked. He told people at a rally to rough someone up. He’s said nothing as ICE has hurt people for months.

He doesn’t get to walk away from this now.
Leavitt: "Nobody in the White House, including President Trump, wants to see people getting hurt or killed in America's streets. This includes Renee Good, Alex Pretti, the brave men and women of law enforcement, and the many Americans who have been victimized by illegal alien criminals"

“can’t you just shoot them.”

Back then his officials refused. So he found ones who wouldn’t.
