I worked for years at a design consultancy and we worked on all kinds of things so we had to quickly get up to speed on new products. Where possible, that included actually using them or at least working with experienced users.

Honestly, I'm not concerned about a designer or engineer who hasn't used the product they're designing.
However, a good designer, and good management, would make sure they understood the technology and understood its use, ideally by actually using them.

Typically that's been them blocking a badge or logo, but it's an odd place for one.

I think it auto sets if you open the door before you put it in park or something. I just know I'm occasionally annoyed that it's on.

Our CR-V automatically sets the parking brake in certain circumstances. I haven't figured out under what circumstances, just occasionally it gets set and I need to figure out if it's a push or pull to disengage. I never remember the next time.
