Kino nerd and sakuga enjoyer.
Working in compositinn and amateur animator.
Also likes philosophy.
Making a character that bright would seems like compositing overkill. But it becoming the next dialogue line is funny.

Just because i know some ppl believe metaphore in anime are impossible. This is litteraly the sky during the climax... This scene happen during bright day light!

ABSOLUTE CINEMA.
At first i tought matching hairs/eye color with the sky motif was a joke. But it is a metaphore of the whole plot line! #umamusume

I just love how this shadow and light are very close one of the other. Like facing themselves without ever touching.
Also the shadow on the boat is a bit moved backward.

While it's quite common to have a rim light to match light saturation It's always a nice touch
Some of the bokeh bubbles comes above the subject, helping to blend it to the background I wonder if they automated the particle spawn to be on the side of character or if they generated spawn box by hand

But where it's getting original is in the sub urbs where lights ray become very geometrical but also kinda brush stroke like. Reminding me of kill la kill brush stroke like flairs.

Nothing uncommon here but it got theses blue gradients on the top corner of shots showing how bright the day light is.

N°7 Masayoshi Tanaka.
Worked on very popular shows and i think is responssible for the appeal of them. (Notably on Shinkai’s movies) King of short bob hair cuts with dynamicly shaped eyes. And that signature pupil thick outline. #sakuga #characterdesign

Card Captor Sakura the Movie. (1999)
Loved the alpha gradient on shadow to sell the suddle moon light.
Also the pastel color gardients on windows frames 🥰

#6 Today i searched about YURIKO ISHII. While her eyes, pupil and iris are very big, she doesn't make it all the face, keeping place for jaw and hair. Judging by her art book she does herself the complete rendering of DVD poster. She has very unique way of designing uniforms #naginoasukara #paworks

Day5: Atsuko Nakajima as character designer. Worked on a lot of adaptations her style seems to have fit many manga designs. Starting on ranma 1/2 as character designer and recently working on Komi-san and precure. #ranma #らんま #古見さんはコミュ症です

Day 3: studying a bit of FUTOSHI NISHIYA character designs:
Very detailed hair structures. Lots of "imperfections". Hairs tend to be a single line at the tip.
Curved inward lines give that "thin" impression.
Also, damn eyes are detailed lots of littles lines at the bottom #kyoani

Day 2: Searching about Tetsuya Nishio.
Very famous, and his name has been used as a marketing argument recently. Funnly enough they insist on his Naruto work. While he literally worked on Jin-roh and on some ghibli movies.
His style feels very smooth but quite realistic. #jinroh

Daily thread on character designers in anime. Day #1: Masashi Ando. Skillfull on many roles (animation director, painter, director). It's good to look at his character designs. He worked on the most significant movies these last decades but started his career at #ghibli #lettertomomo
