Last night, Lamea shared a story about a young mother she once employed at just 16 years old and how she supported her through the years. Today, that employee is a mother of four, and every Mother’s Day she calls Lamea to thank her for the guidance that helped shape her life.

Earlier this year, I said we’d be building the largest canvassing operation in San Francisco. And we've done just that. Our 2,000+ volunteers knocked 100,000 doors in the last five months!

San Francisco has always been a hub for innovation. But as we innovate, we can’t forget about our small businesses. They turn our streets into communities, and they’re the lifeblood of this city. We need to support Nadia, Mark, and every small business owner, not make their lives harder.

The federal government has failed our Bayview-Hunters Point neighbors. I recently met up with Dr. Ahimsa Sumchai Porter and a group of neighbors to discuss the toxic waste in Hunters Point that has been making Bayview neighbors sick for years.

Medicare-for-all isn’t just feasible, it’s necessary. With 27 million uninsured Americans and premiums that climb every year, our system doesn’t need incremental reform. It needs a full transformation.

This is the way to do it. The Dem AND Republican establishments didn’t want him to pursue this. But he fought and forced their hand to create a new anti-establishment bipartisan coalition.
We need more people with this kind of strategic thinking.
