Now I will make the distinction that I do love the idea of someone dreaming of being a spouse to a specific person: in the sense that you met someone, cultivate a love with them, and see spousal-ship as the ultimate culmination of that love. Seeing marriage as an act of love and not achievement

I don't like how being a spouse is tied to social status and stature. I know I'm fighting against history and milennia of socialization, but i feel marriage being seen as a sort of social trophy to collect (especially w/r/t regards to women) is a reinforcement of archaic patriarchal bullshit

I have deeper thoughts on this (and mkdt other things) but no one's interested in that
