If you don't think this is the kind of thing that is terminal for a government, you're either deluded or an idiot.

The right wing media did not make the decision to link Starmer's government to a man who had a close relationship with the richest pedophile in the world, he made that call - and he knew Mandelson had a friendship with him - all by himself. So you can keep your excuses to yourself, ta.

Dismissing Katen Pierce was also a poor decision by Starmer. They do keep piling up.

@lewisgoodall.com and David Runciman on @newsagents.bsky.social is just a brilliant brilliant listen, thought provoking, and everyone interested should listen. The analysis of Starmer has got me thinking a lot

But Manchester Labour has been constantly slagging London and Londoners off for a while now, the bogey man stealing their money has been the riff. It’s bad both ways, as they are shining examples of good Labour governance
Got to say watching Manchester being used as a political football by Labour over the last few days has been rather unedifying. Politics will politics, but as the dust settles I’m increasingly wondering how Labour - at all levels - can square this charade with trumpeting the city’s progress

Jacks right, and what the villagers of Blackheath want more is a terrible looking underused car park, and a meh farmers market instead

I think this point has been underplayed. Someone who chooses not to stand as an MP in 2024 because they think another mayoral term better serves their ambitions then changes their mind 18 months in isn't necessarily the person to bring the party together and show the country Labour are serious
Burnhams behaviour demonstrated he would not be a better leader. Could have completed his term in Manchester as promised, campaigned hard for the candidate, claimed they won in part because of his own personal popularity and waited. Looks like an egotistical opportunist rather than a statesman

One reason he’ll be a shit PM, is he’s such a whiny prick, and that will go down like a cup of cold sick
I'm sorry but this is just embarrassing

I don’t see a world where the public would swallow Rayner as PM, post tax dodging
My guess is that after the elections Starmer will try putting Rayner back in the cabinet to appease the party and that will be the decision point.

But you can’t meet it, because it goes to another school. In Canada.
COLLINS: Does it include the US having ownership of Greenland?

TRUMP: It's a long term deal. It's the ultimate long term deal

COLLINS: How long is it?

TRUMP: Infinite. There is no time limit. It's a deal that's forever.

This will get massively overshadowed today and as ever the devil is in the detail, but is should be one of the best things Labour has done. It has the potential to improve the lives and finances of millions of people.

After one day of unity over Trump the Mail, the Telegraph, Times and Badenoch have decided the Chagos are more important than the destruction of the western alliance and backed the insane ramblings of a rogue president who was fine with the deal last year. We see you #collaborators
Choosing sides between a rogue president bent on destroying the Western alliance and UK and EU governments finally standing up to him shouldn’t be difficult for mainstream political parties or news organisations. So come on Telegraph, Times, Badenoch and yes you Farage if you want to be PM…

The Teletubbies aren’t the same after 28 Years Later…Howzat!
In the 2010s, the Icelandic tv station Channel 2 accidentally added subtitles from a gritty crime drama to an episode of Teletubbies.

So much from the establishment/leadership is still wishful thinking that it'll be all fine in 2029 after Trump leaves, they are fucking deluded
The inability of the British establishment, and consequently the UK public, to recognise what is happening is shocking.

Just a huge failure of leadership.
So many British people are clearly unaware of the downside risks and consequences of the Greenland crisis, including, many people whose job it is to inform the country about it:
