Project Salt Box: How citizen sleuths are monitoring ICE in Maryland
Inside their homes scattered around the Baltimore area, the group of watchdogs is unearthing records, like property filings, contracts, and government procurements, that are otherwise overlooked.

New reporting: A single 1,500-bed ICE detention facility like the one in Hagerstown would cost ~$300K/day, $110M/year. And that's the low estimate. I contractor I spoke with says difficult sites — where locals cause trouble — "will easily be double or more of that cost."
A 25-yr procurement pro says the massive ICE detention expansion is "doomed to failure."

$100k spending bottlenecks

Immigration detention via Navy loopholes

Warehouses with no water

Inside the $55B plan where career staff say "cruelty is the policy."
"Doomed to Failure”
Veteran officials know the plan is unworkable. Political leadership doesn't care. And the budget has soared past $55 billion.

The Washington Post just laid off its entire award-winning photo team. They were our eyes in places we'll never see. It's a horrifying loss at a time when lying governments, propaganda and AI slop are on the rise.

I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Out this morning with McDuff. He’s sniffing something to my left, when I hear rustling to my right. After a squeak, a rabbit shot past heading left, followed by a fox, that slowed for a minute as it took in it’s environment and ran right. The rabbit did not look back. McDuff was confused.

We have a “poverty trap” and it’s driving the destruction of social cohesion.

The “poverty line” is’t 35,000, it’s $150,000, and making more than one, and less than the other is worse than being “poor”.

Which is why the rage.
