Dunno about officially, but here's his first appearance in Gamest's SF2 coverage (June 1991) and the first thing they say about him is that he was scarred by the shoryuken. Though it also says the scar is on his arm! IDK if that's part of a figure of speech or a mistake or what, haha.

Cool backgrounds in Gee Whiz-z-z-z (1956). I always think of Roadrunner cartoons as being very yellow/orange/blue. Maybe my memory is just all of one specific one or something. Anyway this one isn't like that at all, and the color schemes shift through the episode, too.

Years ago I saved this image from Insert Credit, showing a Ranger-X-ish looking game that I guess is called Epoch GP for the GP32. I always meant to look into it eventually and today I found out that I can't find anything out about it at all. Well, darn!

"Adam's Gamble," the Metroid comics conclusion!
Adam's Gamble: (Backstory: The Federation has bred new Metroids that drain your life away but, unlike the Chozo-made ones, these only compensate "in exposure." Samus has discovered that they're in Sector Zero on the Bottle ship and is headed there now) Adam: The only way for me, Adam Malkovich, to get into Sector Zero before Samus does is to shoot her in the back, nearly killing her, but it's essential for my role as her self-sacrificing father figure. Rando Space Marine: Sir, if I may suggest another idea... Shortly, Samus engages what she thinks is a metroid, but is actually a cardboard dummy, allowing Adam to sneak past, slamming the door behind him. "I'm off to kill metroids without you, LADY" he taunts. Samus furiously pounds the door: "I don't know who you are but as soon as I find enough missiles to open this red door you are DEAD MEAT" Adam is surprised that Samus doesn't remember her. After all, he was her instructor at the academy! Unfortunately this was the exact wrong thing to say to Samus, as she suffers a sudden traumatic college debt-related episode. As Adam continues, insisting for some reason that these new metroids are too tough for Samus to defeat, Samus presses a "separate and auto destroy" button that ejects sector zero into space, destroying the metroids and Adam together. Many years later, Samus summarizes the beginning of Metroid Fusion--X parasites, threatening x-clone of herself, the whole thing. But she's got a new suit and a new AI partner to handle it. She's "Fusion for a Bruisin'". The AI activates and reveals itself to be Adam Malkovich, who explains that the federation now backs up the brains of its "most annoying" people and puts them in computers. "Just like old times, eh LADY?" he says, as Samus quickly presses an "AI Eject and Auto Destruct" button, dumping Adam into space where he explodes for a second time.

Your new favorite Metroid spinoff: Zebes Office
Samus enters Brinstar expecting to find the space pirates' base, but it's all rocks and weird space aliens. She hopes to have better luck rolling into a ball and exploring some crevices. Meanwhile, space pirate office workers on a coffee break mull over the "rolling sound" coming from the ducts. "Custodial staff should look into that." A necktie-clad space pirate is impressed with the cleanliness of their office, even though it's buried on planet zebes. Another says things aren't that tight, and recalls a time just the other day when a large spikey bug startled Steve by the vending machine. A third pirate enters: a waver is flying around the office and the others shouldn't miss the pandemonium: pirates are panicking, cowering, and hustling around with boxes full of papers. Mother Brain! The central computer and brains for the space pirate operation on Zebes. Protected by an unbreakable glass case, liquid cooling system, multi-array regenerative zebetite (256TB), and integrated rinka blaster defense system. But, somehow Samus is already on the other side of Mother Brain, and just unplugs her. In the office, space pirates are concerned as they notice that the server is down. "Time Bomb Set! Get Out Fast!" Samus giggles as she makes he escape from Zebes. Meanwhile in the office, an overworked pirate thanks his coworkers for suggesting he take a break, he's feeling much better. "What did I miss?" Mayhem in the office. Everyone is panicking, things are on fire, and pirates are hustling everywhere with boxes of papers. One pirate explains: "Somebody unplugged the server and our files are gone and the whole planet is going to explode AUUUUGGH!!" Our first pirate calmly sips his coffee: "I can't leave these guys alone for 10 minutes..."

Metroid II: The Return of Samus
What Are Metroids (1) - After completing her mission to exterminate the metroids on planet SR388, Samus scans some mysterious Chozo ruins, and discovers that Metroids were created by a radical economic faction of the Chozo. A metroid absorbs 8 hours of a host's life at a time, and exchanges that for 3x higher than average wages, AND healthcare benefits, literally turning time into money. Samus looks back at the damage she has caused, dead metroids everywhere, even the queen, realizing the true cost of such an extinction: "I COULD HAVE BEEN ON EASY STREET!" What Are Metroids (2) - "What have I done? I killed them all! I hate this planet! I hate the federation! I hate--" Samus' angry tirade is interrupted by the sudden hatching of the metroid baby "--I love you forever, sweet child" What are Metroids (3) - Safely aboard the gunship, Samus offers her finger to the baby metroid, to get the easy riches she has always desired, but the baby only spits out a couple of measly space creds. Samus surmises that it must be because this metroid is just a baby. She takes the baby to deposit at the Galactic Bank on Ceres Space Colony, promising to return when the baby has grown up and accrued lots of interest.

Here's Ridley! Whoever that is
Samus is shocked by the sight of a "gross space dragon." The creature is offended that Samus doesn't recognize him, after they have fought so many times, but Samus claims to have never seen him before in her life. He tries to explain his identity but Samus keeps cutting him off. "I'm Ridl--" "THE RIDDLER!!" "Ridle--" "SIR RIDLEY SCOTT the famous movie maker!??" Crying in Frustration: "It's just Ridley!" At Ridley's insistence, Samus strains her brain to remember their "epic battle" on planet Zebes. She seems to have got the picture. "You've changed a lot, Ridley," says Samus. Ridley realizes the problem: Samus was thinking of how he was depicted in the original Metroid (1986), but in this comic he was drawn using the Smash Bros Ridley Amiibo for reference. "That's right," he remembers. "I'm more fierce and handsome than ever." Samus: "You were a spikey, hairy, PIG-GUY!" Ridley, very upset: "That's Kraid!" Ridley is pleased to have a rematch with Samus, but she doesn't really seem to be putting much effort into it, slouching around and firing without passion. He tries to raise the stakes by informing Samus that he killed her parents, but Samus thinks that's a tired out cliche and doesn't believe him. "She's taking me even less seriously than before!" Ridley tries again, claiming to have intentionally voted for politicians who would increase the college debt crisis. In the next panel, a very chewed-up looking Ridley lies broken on the ground. "That's more like it," he says, as a triumphant Samus poses behind him.

True Origin of Samus: Her parents died when she was young, left only with "mysterious luggage" that she carried with her to a prestigious federation academy where she was saddled with enormous debt. One day while escaping her creditors, she accidentally pressed a button on the suitcase, which she'd never noticed before. After a brief magical girl transformation, she became Samus Aran, Space Bounty Hunter! Weeping, she ads: "And one day I'll live debt free!"

In 2020 (yikes) I made these silly Metroid comics, and I guess it's time for them to appear on bsky.
Samus Aram is famed for her powerful suit and nobody knows her true identity. Rival bounty hunters Pico and Armstrong think they'll get a peek when they catch her ordering a drink at the Space Bar, because she'll have to remove her helmet to drink it. They howl in silent frustration when they see her helmet has an opening to drink from using a straw. Armstrong and Pico try to learn more about Samus. She's packing away girly drinks, which they respect because they contain so much alcohol. She sits with her legs folded, which is respectful of crowded spaces. As Samus drunkenly staggers away, with a little sway of her hips, they reach the only possible conclusion: Samus is a little bit effeminate. Armstrong wants to win Samus's respect by showing that he is accepting of a man who is a little bit effeminate. "Yo Samus!," he says, tapping her shoulder from behind, which unexpectedly causes her helmet to fall off, revealing her face, which is annoyed, steely, and surrounded by manga sparkle fx. Armstrong is completely stunned: "Samus is the most beautiful man I've ever seen."

I didn't realize until just now--if Samus had known about the suit's self-cleaning ability, which clears it both of dirty socks and genetic alien debris, the entirety of Other M could have been prevented. IDK when this 100% canon story takes place but it's safe to say Samus forgot immediately.
A creature calling itself "Old Bird" and claiming to be Samus' adopted guardian pays her a visit at her dingy apartment. Samus is skeptical that she ever had anything to do with him. Old Bird (if that is his real name) chastises Samus for the state of her apartment, and her armor, which is covered in trash, old socks, and stink lines. Samus, sprawled on a beanbag chair, says she is too busy for such maintenance. He activates self cleaning mode via a remote control, much to Samus's surprise. The self cleaning feature restores the suit to gleaming newness. The "Clean Dish Ray" cleans her dishes with a sparkling sheen. "Vacuum Mode" transforms the suit into a vacuum cleaner. At last impressed by the power of the Chozo, Samus returns to her beanbag to eat "geegas crisps" while an annoyed Old Bird is left to push the vacuum cleaner around.

One of my hobbies is finding old comics in my university's newspaper archive. This one from 1976 is credited to the California Avocado Advisory Board. There are no other details or context provided.
"Hi" says an avocado plant, as a woman walks by. "I must be losing my mind," she says. "No, it's me, your friendly avocado plant. Thanks for saving me after the salad." "Oh dear," says the woman. In the final panel, the woman and plant are in a psychologist's office. "We thought we'd come see you together."
