As much as I'd love to believe it, I am too much of a pessimist. This MOU had set in motion forces and actions which no one can predict. Think Brexit. My real hope is that Asian oil markets dry up and oil prices stay low. That will the definitive way to stop any pipeline talk.

I am afraid the average voters don't do research before they vote. They vote with emotions.

Even my dozy cul-de-sac in the suburbs has a few ginormous behemoths in its driveways — all meticulously well-coiffed with flashy accessories and dank paint stylings to make 'em seem butch and imposing.

You'll never see a sheet a drywall in those coddled leviathans.
"Honey! Can you pick up a jug of milk, please?"
"Sure thing — truck needs gas anyway. Back in five!"

I understand Carney's thinking, but it is undeniable that the MOU's optic is bad. Losing a cabinet Minister's optic is bad. I am concern if that will lead to losing BC (and Quebec) in the next election. It is a minority government after all... Bottom line is, if you don't win, you don't govern.

This MOU is definitely a risky move... It sure pissed off a lot of NDP-switched LPC voters.
