Hi! I'm an IT Developer by trade, but I picked up #GameDev as a hobby. I'm working on my first project; an idle game about owning an exotic pet store, called Idle Exotics.

I don't have much to show for it, and I'm still learning. But, eventually, I want to bring my more ambitious ideas to life.

I added a new feature this week - the egg queue. It shows which eggs you're currently hatching, and the parents of each egg, if applicable. I capped it at 10 for now, but I might expand it if people want to see further ahead.

Been making great progress in the past week, but not much that shows in screenshots. I did finish an unlockable background selector, though. There will be real background images in the final version, but I did a color swap for now.

I'm finally getting underway with visible changes. The new screens aren't much to look at, but they are functional!

Well, sort of. The prestige menu does let you spend perk points, but the perks aren't implemented yet.

I know I haven't updated in a while. And that's partially because I've had a lot of analysis to do, and a major number rebalance to work on. So, I haven't had much to actually "show" lately.

It's #ScreenshotSaturday once again.

This time, I think I'll show off some of the new icons I made, and the palette swap shader I wrote.

Honestly, I think I should use a shader for the other color changes in the game. It's easier to do than I thought.

This week for #ScreenshotSaturday - Achievements are coming to the build next patch!

All achievements currently added are implemented. There are more on the way, and some are impossible to get right now. But, the code is there for them.

Bonus #ScreenshotSaturday post, I also made some changes to the side menu.

I added a "buy multiple" feature for incubators. When I did, I decided to clean up the breeding menu UI so that the button was more consistent with the other menus.

I'm actually ahead of schedule this month. But for now, I'll just show off the stats screen. It will have more added to it, but this is probably the version that will show up in the next patch.

Not really a screenshot, as it's not in the game yet, but I'd say it counts. I finished a species that will be added to the game in the next round of new species. No preview on the colors because I haven't picked any out yet.

Wow. I haven't done a #ScrenshotSaturday in a minute.

This week I'm fine-tuning a new feature - temporary bonuses. While I can't show the effects in still images, I can show off the new icons.

I also updated the filter menu's art assets.

Development on my game development project's been rough, so I decided to start a small side-project over the weekend. I think the change of pace has been nice. I have a long weekend scheduled at work, so hopefully I'll be back on track then.

Thanks to everyone who tried the Alpha build of Idle Exotics! I've been getting great feedback and I'm working on a hotfix for some common issues.

Hopefully, I can go live with the next version this weekend!

Looks like the Idle Exotics Alpha is just about ready! I'm exporting the project tonight, and I'm going to take a few days to test the game in-browser. Crossing my fingers that I won't need to do any hotfixes before Saturday! 🤞

3 days into my 4 day push to get my alpha build ready, and things are looking pretty good! There's just some numbers tweaking left, for the most part. Then, it'll be good to go for a test release.

Hope to see people trying it out next weekend!
