As a public service today, I took the dog to Sherwood Forest. A dog with a slightly ambitious stick makes people smile.

Watching throwdown, and offspring says that the structure in the Santa's north pole challenge should be a huge Amazon fulfillment centre with a fleet of vans outside. #potterythrowdown

The motorbike in The Snowman looks to be a Honda CB77, made in the early 1960s. The registration, HJK 596, does not appear on the DVLA database.

There you go, a bit of Christmas trivia for you.

There really is nothing like a Christmas Eve visit to A&E.

It's fine. Not me, and all resolved. But you never stop being a parent.

Walking my dog in the mid-day twilight, and happened upon this solitary, broken, daisy-like flower. Seems somehow symbolic.

My home village of Lambley has made it into @privateeyenews.bsky.social (via @russs.bsky.social ?) Inevitably with a Reform council it's in Rotten Boroughs. I'm presuming the stated bureaucracy was waived by Reform for their own flag nonsense we're all now forced to see.

You know what you don't see any more? Road atlases.

I know everyone has GPS but paper maps are still better for for planning and diversions. Also my eldest had just bought his first car and it would make a stocking filler.

As if there wasn't already too much crappy genAI imagery around, check these beauties from the B&Q website.

The broken text is because I compressed the screengrab to reduce excesssive white space.

Synthetic images of 'real' trees. Not sure that's a great sales technique. #ohchristmastree

The "don't have an extra kid if you can't afford it" brigade get awfully upset when you suggest they don't stay in their £2m house if they can't afford it, don't they?

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1
