UBRG seems to have the weakest counter-signpost, so that warrants investigating. Just a clear “can’t” ability would solve it all.

I’m also thinking of UR as the center of political play, and B or GW as the kind of morality axis for players to choose between. I have been tempted to make a custom RGWU Kellan to point to 5C sagas, cuz it’d just be funny to have an Adventure Saga creature ☺️

UBRG/-W (Wildmagic)
Okay so like, imagine drannith magistrate was a legendary creature, and that is the equal and opposite force to this 4C theme. It’s an amorphous weapon meant to surprise you as much as your opponent. Then W counters it with order, returning abilities, and limitations.

BRGW/-U (Aggression)
I didn’t even realize The Mindskinner was such a clear counter here lol. The 4C side captures all manners of seizing resources to win with, where U is the undoing force. Extra combats, edicts, ramp, or stax can all be undone with a simple counterspell.

RGWU/-B (Humanity)
This was the most a-ha of the 4C themes for me. Right now this is the closest to group hug I get, but I do think it’s much more of a Human kindred payoff, but rn there isn’t a 3C Human archetype I’m happy with. I’m just really trying to cut as much Human support from B as possible

Tale as old as time in Phyrexia, but calling it Phyrexia felt like a cop out. When I think about proliferate as a mechanic, it makes this a permanents vs non-permanents dichotomy, so most prowess and spell slinging is R. Idk if Carah is the pure embodiment of this, but for now it’s fine.

WUBR/-G (Artificery)
This one felt the most easy to define: evasion, artifacts, and sacrifice. It lacks everything G brings, power, size, and aggression. Currently green has no non-creature artifacts.

I collected some southern magnolia leaves and pods for my tank—I’m so excited for these to make homes for my bugs and my kids!
