Keen photographer of wildlife, especially birds, landscape and recently astrophotography has become a passion
A bit of a random one. A cat with hypnotic blue eyes I met on a walk.

Noticed this pool of water under a 19 century railway bridge across the now defunct line from Brockenhurst to Ringwood. Thinking the reflection added a little something to the image, click, splash and away.

Pleiades is an Open Star Cluster within our own Galaxy, The Milky Way, about 400 Lightyears from Earth. Although over 100 stars in the cluster the brightest give it the name Seven Sisters. The wispy blue nebulae is a region of gas through which The Pleiades are currently passing.

The aptly named Devil’s Fingers Fungus, an Australian import to the UK. This specimen battered by rain. The egg like thing is one waiting to burst free into full stinky glory as this is one of those fungi, like the Stinkhorn, that uses flies attracted to carrion to transfer spores to new locations.

This nicely illustrates the idea of a mast year i.e. when there is an abundance. Here it is apples, more specifically, crab apples, which are small, bitter, to the point where a bite feels like you've taken the skin off your teeth. All berry bushes e.g. Holly and Hawthorn are massed with fruits.

At the start of my walk, now I'm allowed to drive again, yesterday the sun lit up the small rain shower resulting in a rainbow and lighting up the scene before me beautifully.

I think it can be taken as a given that only complete fucking twats would gravitate toward extreme right wing views.

Remember summer? That was when it was warm and dry and plant like this celebrated the presence in the sky of a hot ball of explosions that feed life on this planet.

A couple more from the summer as a reminder that in 3 weeks we here in the northern hemisphere will be heading back there 😂😂😂. I hope that makes you feel better.

My son working to get his music recognised. I know I'm biased but seriously he writes some tunes! More will appear as time passes. Hope, if you listen, you enjoy too. www.instagram.com/notanotherda...

The moon was showing before the week of rain so tried to grab it.
Only using the 70-300mm lens as that is what was connected. 7 stacked shots. Oddly stacking wouldn't work at the camera image size of 6000X4000 pixels. Too much movement I guess. So tried doubling the size and it stacked perfectly!

Back to my comfort zone of flowers and insects here a double dose of both. A pair of Carder Bees on a very sunny Sunflower and hiding in the unusual petals of a Cosmos flower a small, white, Crab Spider waiting to pounce on an unwary insect

Not a new image, obviously 😊, but one I like without the astro angst 🙄. I love taking photos of bees. The intention is to try for them in flight. That is never easy but often the preparatory shots turn out quite nicely. There's something about that blue flower bottom right just sits well with me.

Today there is no dark or light
Today there is no black or white
Only shades of gray

Pleiades, again, at 300mm this time. Rather surprised at how well this came out. Luckily I had the cluster centred as the level of vignetting was huge.

Cold, clear, recent nights allow night sky imaging. More data needed, to bring out detail, but lovely to realise that Pleiades is withing a nebula, new idea to me. Andromeda Galaxy on collision course is lovely. Again more detail needed

Went out over the weekend and was lucky, sun was shining lighting up the last days of autumn. Since then heavy rain and wind has stripped much of the beech tree glory. Attached are three views of a bridge in the New Forest.

Three different views of the New Forest UK 1) autumnal colours in a Beech/Oak Copse 2) the long, road along which far too many drivers use unsuitable speeds considering that wildlife cross them, often with no warning and 3) a path through stands of Silver Birch after rain

Walking through the woods admiring and photographing the autumnal nature of the place over the weekend when first one Fallow Deer crossed the path, and once you see one you know there will be more, 6 at least.

One scruffy looking New Forest 'Stumpy' a Shetland I assume. Quite often you can come across a small herd of this breed together. Other times, like here, an individual attaches itself to a family group of full size New Forest Ponies.

The Lady of the Woods the very beautiful Silver Birch here standing proudly, alone, on a Bracken covered slope with the sun falling directly on her. Leaves glowing yellow in autumnal splendour.
