Uber earned 402m in NZ & paid less than $1m tax. It's actually suspected that profits back to the US were more than double that, $867m - & perversely, shifting profit overseas rewards them with a smaller tax burden here

Charter schools don't solve the educational issues the ministers have identified. Surely the gaps are not resolved with either a French language school or a western supremacy school in a rich neighbourhood.

From Police website, "You should notbtakr photos of people if they're in a place where they would expect privacy, it has the potential to stop other people's use and enjoyment of the same place, you have no legitimate reason for taking the film or photos Secretly filming people in intimate situations without their consent should see voyeurs jailed for up to three years, the Law Commission recommends in a report released today. The commission says making, distributing and possessing covertly filmed images "of a very intimate nature" should be made criminal offences. It recommends maximum jail terms of three years for making and publishing voyeuristic recordings and 12 months for possessing material known to be illegally filmed. Courts should be allowed to order forfeiture and destruction of images and equipment and subjects of the filming should be allowed to seek redress through the civil justice system. "Where people have a reasonable expectation of privacy, they should have legal recourse if they are secretly photographed when they are in a state of undress, or engaged in sexual activity, or other intimate bodily activity, such as using a toilet," commission president Justice Robertson said today. "This is a serious invasion of privacy and an affront to human dignity. So too is secretly photographing underneath people's clothing -- so-called 'up-skirt' filming," Justice Robertson said in a statement. Existing law did not cover this conduct adequately, the commission found.

Your "friend" is trying to get a job in a country where, according to years of data, ppl are not treated equally. For example, non-white patients may not be prescribed antibiotics they need simply because the Dr believes they won't finish the course of treatment, so why bother. YEARS OF DATA
An example in the consultation document where a person overseas is required to take a cultural competency course before being approved to work in the health system and boo hoo about that 1 day fucking course

I've been having fun with the vegan-ness, being a bit more interested in food than I have been for a while.
Tonight was the 2nd time for an Adam Liaw recipe, cold tofu with sesame paste, chili oil, soy & garlic that I ate with kale & a cuke/avo salad. Very tasty.

Been going a bit vegan (you can only tell me about so many bird flus before I take a hint) & having quite a lot of fun making food exciting - tonight, homemade labneh w za'atar, chopped salad & shawarma-marinated tofu...it is YUM
