I am a SSDI and SNAP recipient with physical and mental health disabilities living in shared housing for women with trauma histories and am just trying to survive. In just the last year I lived through a traumatic roommate situation, the LA fires, and ICE being in LA. I have been diagnosed with PTSD, ADHD, a thyroid condition, and may have a heart condition.

The people who are convinced I’m not doing everything I can have never been disabled and felt like they were walking through thick mud to do basic tasks. Have never had a high needs child who needs 24/7 watch and care. I don’t want sympathy but I also hate that anyone struggling is seen as lazy.

He is high needs meaning he needs help with everything through out the day. I'm disabled myself. I have long covid which mostly entails POTs, uterine fibroids and chronic fatigue. When I was last working I ended up in the ER from overworking my body and decided it was best for me to stay home especially since my disabled child was already struggling so much with the caretaker he had at the time. I also have a trans child so we live in California where it's safest for her and my family in general as two of us are disabled. I'm working towards getting on disability at the moment as well as exploring options to be paid to be my son's caregiver as his behavior gets worse when I'm not the one caring for him.
