I love how much mythology is based around people travelling to places and not recognizing certain animals. A dude will be like "THE BEAST WAS HUGE, HORNED AND TERRIBLE. ITS ENRAGED BELLOW FRIGHTENED MY MEN. ITS FEET SOUNDED OF THUNDER" and 1,000 years later, you learn he had just seen a cow.

If you ever wonder why your artist friend is so pissed off whenever they see AI slop used instead of real, human-created art, it's exactly what you think:
How is AI *really* impacting jobs?

Henley Chiu, the CTO of Revealera, a jobs data analysis firm, analyzed 180 million jobs listings in 2024 and 2025, in an effort to find out. Chiu found an:

-8% drop in all jobs postings
-~30% drop in art, photography, writing jobs
-22% drop in journalism jobs
What’s really going on with AI and jobs?
Record-breaking layoff reports, Amazon's mass firings, and a slump in entry level employment. Is AI behind it all?

Honestly, kind of disheartening to see how ready people are to hand their creative pursuits over to generative AI. Without a shred of self-consciousness.

Maybe it’s 11pm and seasonal depression talking, but it kind of makes me wonder if maybe I really am being replaced.

Now, Sapphire, take time back! Sapphire and Steel – Very British Futures
There's a brand new episode of Very British Futures out there now, tackling another of British TV most famous SF series - Sapphire and Steel. When Sapphire & Steel first aired on ITV in July 1979, it didn’t so much arrive as materialize—mysterious, minimalist, and utterly unlike anything else on television. Created by Peter J. Hammond, who had written for Ace of Wands and Shadows but had mostly worked on conventional fare like Z-Cars and Crossroads, the series was born from a desire to explore the fragility of time and the eerie consequences of its disruption.
