I just find his performance in the film stilted and punchable. And because I'm not a famous director I can talk shit about an actor I don't like, lol.

Can you call Avatar derivative? Sure. Most stories of this nature are to some degree. What I don't get is why its such a problem for ppl with these films specifically.
Execution is what matters, but nobody dives into that with Avatar - they just say "its like X!" as if that proves their point.

Your gushing over this had me seek it out. My toku TV consumption has slowed a lot recently but digging into a more obscure one sounds like fun right now.
