Yeah, good riddance! I had no idea it was patented at all

Oh I was not aware of that, that does suck 🙁

I guess it encroaches everywhere, it even works its way into mighty Nintendo, who's more averse to this sort of thing than most

Ooh Unrealpunk! Nanite, lumen, DLSS, temporal anti-aliasing

Yeah that is definitely a defineable aesthetic, I could see someone painstakingly trying to recreate that look in a modern engine 😄

Honestly what more proof do you need 😄

Always putting out banger shows

Are lens flares the "Xbox 360 era bloom" of the current gen?

Not sure which types of games you like playing but Nintendo games are still very straightforward with this kind of thing

Buy Donkey Kong Bananza, stick the cartridge in, play the game, and it's just good fun and not trying to be "a platform" or anything.

Just tries to be a good game, nothing more

I even saw the trailer and had no idea what was coming, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time

You dodged a bullet there for sure, but it sounds like a soul-crushing experience 🙁

They are really, *really* stingy with upgrades this time around

What's more, they don't feel like "something extra you can unlock to make things easier" but more like "encounters were designed expecting you to have these upgrades, otherwise they're not really feasible" 😞

For me it's about too many "layers" of difficulty

Like a really difficult platforming section you can only try AFTER first doing a really difficult boss fight AFTER fighting a few other waves of enemies AND a really long runback

Piling it all on at once just feels very tedious and sadistic

Haha I didn't think about that. Grass is always greener on the other side it seems 😂

Or begin a new side project: the first open world image editor

Tremendously satisfying to watch

I've not finished Silksong yet but I agree with everything you've said

With most boss fights it wasn't exhilarating to finally beat them, it was just a relief that I wouldn't have to experience it again and could get back to the fun part (exploring, doing quests, getting upgrades)

Frustratingly I think the UX design of Maya is pretty good (better than Blender, in my experience thus far)

But it's poorly implemented; things just breaking all the time and whatnot (and not improving)

So I am dragging my feet transitioning to Blender even though it is objectively the better tool
