What’s all this I hear about RFK Jr. and Olivia Nuzzi “belching”? For goodness sake, what’s so sexy about belching? I never thought…what?…And what does that mean?…Really?!!…well, that’s VERY different…Never mind!

Thank you, BOOKFORUM! Until today I had never really noticed the resemblance between James Baldwin and Don Knotts.

Good morning, America! Whatever you think of the individual candidates across the board, we are seeing daylight for the first time in a year. The fight is still going to be long and tough but we won this battle. Take a moment to celebrate.

Happy 100th birthday to the amazing Lee Grant. A few years ago I had the good fortune of meeting and chatting for awhile with this gifted lady and she is still sharp and fascinating. I also recommend her excellent autobiography I SAID YES TO EVERYTHING.

I thought Bari Weiss made some good points when she was on with Bill Maher.

You first.
News: Bari Weiss just sent a memo to staffers at CBS News asking them to produce a memo explaining "how you spend your working hours—and ideally, what you've made (or are making) that you're most proud of."

One CBS News staffer puts it like this to me: "We just got Elon Musked."

The first time I read this, I thought the woman was saying “F Troop” but now that I’ve read it again can see that it all makes perfect sense.
RFK Jr: "Somebody showed me a TikTok video of a pregnant woman at 8 months pregnant -- she's an associate professor at the Columbia Medical School -- and she is saying 'F Trump' and gobbling Tylenol with her baby in her placenta. The level of Trump Derangement Syndrome is now a pathology."

I want every night’s show to begin with “This is The CBS Fucking News…with John Dickerson”.
Bari Weiss introduced herself to CBS News staff today on the network's 9AM call, saying she wants to "win," which requires restoring trust to CBS. She also said she was excited for staff to get to know the Free Press, and ended her remarks by saying: "Let's do the fucking news."

It’s the birthday of the Master, Buster Keaton. And here you can read my essay for Criterion on his compromised but still hilarious last silent comedy, SPITE MARRIAGE:
Keaton at the Crossroads: Buster’s Last Silent Comedy, Spite Marriage
Despite the studio system’s stifling conditions, Buster Keaton’s follow-up to The Cameraman remains a testament to the funnyman’s singular style.

Now that CBS has hired Bari Weiss to run its News division, NBC and ABC are looking for similarly qualified News execs:
