Freed from the Agatha Christie pastiche of the first film, and the clumsy topical vaudeville of the second, the third Knives Out entry is the prettiest, boldest, and most original of the series.

F1 is a tired story; a husk of a film that perfectly delivers the thrills of the titular racing league through sheer scope and sensory assault.

Between this and Top Gun: Maverick, Kosinski is on an incredibly Fordian run. This is a husk of a story and yet it feels bigger than life. Pitt as Wayne and Kerry Condon as Maureen O’Hara

No one talks like a real person, the story is throwing treacly nonsense at the viewer every sixty seconds, it’s clearly the fever dream of an 80-year-old man who just wants things to be better and people to be kinder.

In short, James L. Brooks’s Megalopolis. I loved it.
