Ross from Moffat, Scotland.

My oven gloves are a homage to a Half Man Half Biscuit song. The picture with castle is my painting of Castlebay, Isle of Barra.
More clear thinking from Vlad Vexler,

It certainly got me thinking too, although I'm really not sure if my reply contributed anything meaningful, or whether it just illustrated that I'm part of the problem alluded to !

They purge their moderates, and then jump from their own scuppered ship.

This reader comment responding to a Times piece on Suella Bravermen's defection today from the Conservatives to Reform is strikingly apposite ...

"So tell me again, how is a vote for Reform a vote against the Establishment?"

Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

With still around 1000 apartment blocks without heat, it's a lifeline for people in the worst affected district Desnianskyi.

There are charging points, hot food + psychological support.

In its essence, it's not journalism, but reportage.

Including a summary in their reportage that 'we viewed multiple videos which contradict the US Government statements' would frame their 'he said, she said' accounts into something journalistic.

Doing so isn't political, or taking a side.

They're horrific, but it's important to watch the snuff videos taken by onlookers of a man being shot dead by ICE agents in Minneapolis today.

If you don't watch them, you won't know for sure that the video evidence (from multiple angles) completely contradicts what US Government is telling you.

POTUS on US NATO allies ...

“We’ve never needed them. They’ll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan, and they did, they stayed a little back, a little off the frontlines.”

Context - Over 1,000 non-US NATO personnel were killed in Afghanistan.

US Government - Hey Grok. The Brits were united against POTUS yesterday. They were really pissed about Greenland. Tell us what we need the senile manbaby to write on Truth to make our UK fascist comrades turn against their government again.

Grok - Easy. Just type some mendacious stuff about Chagos.

A conspiracy theorist might believe that Grok has been telling the dull-witted, inept, credulous leadership team of the USA exactly what to do next for the past year.

There is a small chance that a hostile U.S. take-over of Greenland can happen. However, there is a much bigger chance that it would not happen for reasons that get insufficient attention in much of the public discourse. I explain in my latest Substack essay. alanoszka.substack.com/p/the-noise-...

While the result of US mid-term elections may limit POTUS's excesses, that's by no means a given, but meanwhile we need to be working out a European strategy that isn't contingent on the USA being a friendly partner. What's to be done, and where to begin ? Well this is a good read for starters ...

What does LK believe Reform's strong suit is considered to be, if it's more than simply appealing to racists ?
