Reality check: Van Epps margin of victory was 9%. The swing in favor of Democrats--Trump won the district by 22 points in 2024--was 13 points, not 15. Van Epps won 13 of 14 counties. Credit Aftyn Behn with a hard-fought Pyrrhric victory. Democrats still must learn how to win rural voters.

I was a 4-H kid, but I get your point. The trick with the young, I think, is to get them to buy into republican reasonableness and the civic virtue it requires. That's a tall order, but no more so than when George Washington championed the idea. Consider his Circular to the States in 1783.
