I happen to be up and shopping! A heads up that the link to your birds and beach site has a pesky, errant comma in it, causing the link not to work

I feel like someone's gonna end up in the cement

Who doesn't respect the people living here?

Waiting until the retailers like this get grumpy at the supermarket cartel, utilities and banks, who seem to be raking in quite healthy profits
August 23, 2025 at 8:11 AM
Huh. I filled it in truthfully, but how can they even tell if you are an actual US tax payer from this? I am filling it in from NZ--often these sorts of surveys are geo blocked.

Lol... I lived within 3 blocks of there 🙃

And it's not too far from where The Time Travelers Wife book is set

I live in New Zealand. Have been waiting for mail from my US bank (TX). Finally arrived after 5 wks. It has a "Postage Paid Sweden" sticker on top of the "US postage paid" printing on the envelope. It says it should be returned to Malmo, Sweden if undelivered 🙃. That's the other side of the earth.

N applied to something like 25 schools (both MD and DO), which is not at all unusual. He got into all of the DO schools, and one MD school.

It's a crazy competitive system.
July 14, 2025 at 9:23 AM
Pefacing this by just having learned this from my nephew...

The school. MD schools are harder to get into--test scores and crazy numbers of applicants (>10k for maybe 100-200 spaces). More DO schools are opening up, many (most?) are private and cost $$$; they are easier to get into.

My nephew is just starting medical school in the US (insert proud Auntie vibes 😊). He applied to both MD and DO schools. They get the same education and training.

Osteopath in NZ/AUS is not the same as Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) in the US.

Going to the uni bookstore and spending 10 cents on a sheet of logarithmic-scale graph paper so you could finish your lab report

Lol... they may have appreciated the twinkies if I'd have figured a way to get them to them
July 8, 2025 at 1:39 AM
Lol. In my 'silly' teenage years I wanted to knock on the window and wave twinkies at the scientists living on the inside.

(I am much more kind, thoughtful and health conscious now)

Veri interesting, thanks!

I grew up in southern AZ and I now live in NZ. Even though NZ summers are cooler, the sun feels stronger--it causes more of a burning sensation on your skin. That few million miles makes a difference!

Lol.
Ironically, 11 is spot on and is rare in even in this day and age
(says the 50s-ish woman who finally found a pair of steel-toed shoes manufactured in her size...)
