This ad is from the 1960's or 70's AFacebook post from the Wellington Museum: Is it time to free the knee? Some think it is time to bring walk shorts back into workplaces. Walk shorts were a garment that was popular in New Zealand in the 1960s and 1970s. Walk shorts typically end above the knee and were traditionally worn with knee-high socks and leather shoes or sandals. This infamous fashion combo had to be petitioned to allow public service workers to wear them. I learned a similarly weird factoid yesterday. Instant coffee was invented in Invercargill around 1890!

(This an entry into the designs to replace the New Zealand flag. We ended up keeping the existing one 🙃)
