Miner of obscure rural musical artifacts. Born the day Bob Wills died.
Once played 3 shows in a weekend in Va's eastern shore. One outdoor show got moved to a restaurant due to weather.

Three cocaine loudmouth brothers showed up and 'cheered' loudly at us all night.

They showed next day at outdoor set on a golf cart. Music on their stereo? Steely Dan, of course.
There's a rule in pop music that's basically: be careful about the types of people you sing about, because those people eventually become your audience. Steely Dan is Exhibit A regarding this phenomenon.

Shout out to everyone who ended up tuning in the bbc feed of afc championship after listening to footy and discovering that you don’t get the usual commercials.

It’s comforting to see folks honoring Bob Weir in death the way they did in life; singing awful covers of his band’s songs.

Just got an inquiry from someone looking for work whose email handle is tourettegirl#####@gmail.com. Not sure that is the account you want to use for such matters.

Perfect parking job, especially outside the orthopedic entrance to a medical office building. No notes.

No low ballers. This seller knows what he's got. If he's feeling generous, the chipboard case might be included for a full price buyer.

Behold the Strativirus Fiddle.

My long latent childhood skill of moonwalking is coming in useful for smoothing out the wrinkles in this new rug.

Is it possible to moonwalk without singing “Billie Jean”? My wife is probably curious.

15 years ago, this boy showed up during a brutal stretch of winter. Found the owner, who suggested he'd be happier with us.

We'd never been cat people, but our 4 and 7 year old boys were very keen to try. After 15 years of being the best cat, he is due to depart the earthly plane today. RIP Onyx.

Just discovered this Christmas tune recorded 15 years ago today while we were preparing for a show in Victoria, Virginia.

In the show, we did a marcharound at the end of this number, and our geriatric audience reacted like we'd just done some real rock and roll stuff.

Unexpectedly home alone for a large chunk of today. What to do?

I settled on fiddle practice and ear training with CFB on mute.

It’s like a middle aged sequel to ‘Risky Business’.

In addition to serving me up this playlist this afternoon, my local low power station is giving me the Judas Priest track that ‘My Sharona’ was nicked from.

Saw Cincinnati Ballet’s production of “The Great Gatsby” last night, last show of the the US premiere of the ballet.

Amazing show, and I was grateful that a certain Ohio resident didn’t show up during a sorta racy scene involving a couch.

Next door neighbor is cleaning out his shed this morning. His six year old is outside having a blast playing with a janky window screen. Screen time for kids isn’t all bad.

An employee just told me her step-grand kid is taking a train from VA to NYC today, moving to the city.

Kid has told their mom that they're staying with a friend until settling. Last night they confessed to grandmother that they have no plan or place to stay.

Bold? Stupid? Both?

I love that Dodgers’ organist plays ‘I am the Walrus’ for Edman at bats. Koo koo keh choo.

A couple of dad type figures have been skateboarding in the lot across from my office. They both appear to be on the cusp of an orthopedic event.

My most fervent opinion about Maine is that people hyperfocus on the coast and ignore the incredible lakes and mountains found inland.

Not sure who it is, but the whitest possible version of “Mannish Boy” made the gym soundtrack today.
Grateful Dead “Easy Wind” today

More California white boys, but about as bluesy as the dead ever put on record imo.
CCR “Willie and the Poor Boys” today. Performed by white guys, but a soulful track.

Jimi Hendrix ‘Dolly Dagger’ on the gym stereo.

The most soulful thing I’ve heard here since last November, when the playlist suddenly took a white turn.

Not to brag, but I just test drove a guitar and didn’t buy it. Regrets incoming?

Just saw a woman doing a handstand on a skateboard while rolling the wrong way down a one way street.

This is two days in a row. Not a super busy street, but I’m equal parts impressed and concerned.
