I think that’s it for me too. Like I know it’s there when I enunciate and I drop it normally

But I’ve learned enough about what distinguishes coda from onset to be confident in this, despite the wrinkles

And I’m not spelling “hedgerow” like hed.drou even though I totally could. It makes enough sense to keep it as hej.rou
December 15, 2025 at 7:58 PM
It’s still a little messy. For example “hat trick” is intoned like a single word but the t is a little bit more geminated there. I’m not using hyphens so it’s spelled either hat trik (too separate) or hat.trik (rhymes with “Patrick”)

So what I’m going with is ad.dres. And pat.trik, etc
December 15, 2025 at 7:58 PM
On the other hand, the consonant in “bedrock” really is (usually) pronounced different
December 15, 2025 at 7:58 PM
I had said I don’t like ad.dres because the consonant is different from “add dress” but I actually don’t think that’s meaningfully true—what’s noticeably different is the timing and intonation, and the space explains that

OED has a Biritish person saying [riːvjuː] but only for the noun form. It really sounds like he’s saying re-view
