What a time to be alive. I'm 78. I hope to live long enough to see how this turns out. And to contribute in some measure to reviving decency and saving democracy in my country of birth.
An integral part of the business. And yes, the girls were shiny objects in the literal sense–which is why they were so central to these powerful men’s dealings–but let us not regard the reality of what happened to them as in anyway less important than the money laundering and other criminal acts.

Josh Marshall wrote an excellent essay recently that recommends eliminating the filibuster altogether, among other things needed to restore and strengthen our democracy. His argument is compelling, IMO:

Wow, how nice to know that Trump is helping people come to the USA to get good medical care. Great to see!

Went to school with a guy named Ted Hole. His father's name, I kid you not, was Harry. How the hell can parents do that to their own child?

Just-in WaPo headline:

Venezuela placed on high alert with massive mobilization of soldiers and militia, defense minister says

Wondering if this might be related to the House vote on the Epstein files tomorrow? Crazy thought, yes, but crazy times.

Survived, yes, but I'd be putting my money on Mills to pull it out. In addition to Platner's little Nazi problem, Janet has a lot of cache. At least that's it what it looks like from where I sit, on the other side of the country.

Wouldn't be oh-so-grand to see the Texas-led gerrymandering campaign blow up in their faces? Could happen.

Hard to predict, but I agree, it's hard to see how team Trump doesn't have something in store that prevents or at least greatly mitigates the effect of whatever is released. Going to be an interesting few days starting tomorrow! Fingers crossed.

Beautiful image! Did you create it? Marvelous.

Pretty sure this is her on bsky:

I followed her. She's also written two books that look excellent. Definitely a force!

Hello Cheryl. Don't know what post your are applauding here, but I want to use this space to thank you for your excellent video posted on FB by Sean Christopher Gayle. Couldn't agree more! You've got a new follower. :) And hey, I was born in Oakland! Almost 79 years ago. 🥸

And even its ‘big potatoes’ version - who will be the Democrats’ leader - will be addressed and resolved through the process you’ve delineated here. Who holds that position right now is fairly irrelevant to the game plan here, IMO.

Great to know, thanks!

Damn! Wish this video was available for download somewhere, or at least viewable on another platform besides FB, so I could share it friends who aren't on FB. So good.

Excellent list, Josh, and a real service to the cause. I hope enough people see and agree with this to turn it into an actionable checklist, modified as it may be in the process, to have a real effect going forward. It really helps to have clearly enumerated and widely supported criteria like this.

Seriously, it's difficult to imagine how ANYBODY, even someone as hopelessly devoid of character and taste as Donald Trump, could think this is somehow attractive. And it shows again that he is surrounded by sycophants, who must all swallow their disgust every time they walk into one of these rooms.

Raskin is a powerhouse. I hope he runs for a bigger office at some point.

You were fantastic, Ms Campbell. And your work in MA is invaluable and courageous. Thank you! You've got a new fan here and, no doubt, many more after your appearance on The Last Word tonight. Well done.

You're getting a whole lot of pushback on your comments tonight, Lawrence. But I'm not in that club. Not quite sure what to think of the Dem 'cave' but I'm open to it working out quite well. If the Epstein files get released because the House is forced to re-open, that would indeed be huge.
November 11, 2025 at 4:59 AM
I'm surprised that POV is not getting more attention. Also, forcing Johnson to open the House and seat Grijalva could be part of the picture. I'm not sure how to think about the Dem 'cave' but I'm not as pissed and panicked about it as most Dems seem to be.

The question, seems to me, is *what* he's aware of. Sure as hell isn't himself, i.e., he's the farthest thing possible from self-aware. Seems he's aware only of what other people think of him and how he can dominate them.
November 11, 2025 at 12:47 AM
If Johnson (aka Trump) doesn't open the House due to the discharge petition vote (Epstein files) doesn't that put the ongoing shutdown and its attendant human suffering squarely, clearly, and solely on the backs of the Republicans?
November 10, 2025 at 7:36 AM
But this will lead the House to re-open, no? And doesn't that mean Grijalva gets seated? You know the rest of that scenario. Also, as for Repubs breaking their agreement to negotiate a healthcare bill in Dec, won't they be under enormous public pressure to do so, given what we've just gone thru?

It's pretty amazing to me how rapidly this anti-greed, anti-excesses-of-unregulated-capitalism view is growing. The tide appears to have turned, and Mamdani's election may well go down as the widely acknowledged mark of the turning point. Feeling hopeful... finally.
