From my fortune cookie earlier tonight. It kinda feels 100% pertinent to the state of <waves arms wildly> things right now. “Education is the movement from darkness to light.” That’s some unexpectedly profound fortune cookie wisdom. Goodnight my friends. It’ll soon be light again for us all, I hope.

Yet another go fast and break things strategy by this administration. Twenty days to provide organizational change recommendations for 573 refuges and 5 Marine National Monuments
w/ a list of associated necessary actions required for implementation no later than February 15, 2026. This is DOGE 2.0
WTF! The Trump administration plans to review (with the intent to remove or eliminate) some of the nation’s wildlife refuges and fish hatcheries. Agency director Brian Nesvik ordered officials to identify refuges/hatcheries whose purpose the administration claims “no longer aligns with the mission.”
Requirements and Expectations – Review of the National Wildlife Refuge System and National Fish Hatchery System | U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
Sec. 1 What is the background and purpose of this Order? a. The National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS) and National Fish Hatchery System (NFHS) are national treasures providing wildlife habitat for th...

Asperitas clouds (I think that’s what these clouds are?) over the Salt Lake Valley today. Photographed these from Sunrise Mountain Park in South Jordan, UT. I truly LOVE these kinds of clouds. It makes the sky feel otherworldly - even a little eerie or unsettling.

Fantastic post of fantastic photos of an even more fantastic woman - Edith Piaf. ❤️ Her family grave was even more adorned in flowers and gifts than Morrison’s when I visited Cimetière du Père-Lachaise many years ago (and not covered in graffiti).
Remembering Edith Piaf on her birthday 🎂

it’s mind-blowing to think that these imprints left from dinosaurs trekking in what was once mud millions of years ago, are now on a near completely vertical mountainside of rock. Geology is amazing. This planet is amazing. Our planet’s history is amazing. Millions of years…and now we have..Trump?
While hiking in the Italian Alps, a nature photographer came upon a surface speckled with more than 2,000 dinosaur footprints that scientists are calling “remarkable.” nyti.ms/44zfQc8

As a child, I was taught not to believe everything I see on TV, even from important adults. I never thought I’d be watching a President spew 100% complete bullshit during a live televised address to the country. Not a thing, NOT A SINGLE DAMN THING he ramble-raged on about was remotely true.

Proud dad photo. My son dropping off toys he picked out for his school’s toy drive. He initially said “Santa will bring them toys, so it’s okay.” I explained (while keeping up the Santa bit) that because some families don’t have homes Santa can’t always find them. And that’s all he needed to hear.❤️

Thank you to the neighbor who had me doing a double-take with their choice of front yard holiday accoutrements, but 100% delighted my son who loves everything spooky - even for Christmas. (I’m also wondering if they just left these two up from Halloween, and decorated them for the holidays 🤣👍).

Throwback to this date, last year here in Utah…when it actually looked and felt like wintertime in mid-December. It’s nearly 60° here again today. Not a flake of snow in sight (a little in the mountains, but snowpack is way behind). Gonna change the lyrics to “Oh the weather outside is delightful…”

I simply cannot fathom deporting military veterans; veterans who have put their life on the line - patriotically given their heart, soul, sweat, blood, and tears to defending, protecting and serving the very country that now wants to ship them away like trash. They deserve SO MUCH better than this.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was confronted Thursday over the deportation of U.S. military veterans under the Trump administration.

Happy 55th Anniversary to these two kids. Two of my most favorite people in the whole world. Kind, thoughtful, and always up for an adventure or new project. I love my folks and it makes me just tickled to see them still in love, and having fun together after all these years.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

I wish I’d seen this a few days ago, when it came out for International Day of Persons with Disabilities, but this short musical film from Apple is pretty remarkable and lovely.

You would have turned 46 today. Thank you for being born on this day and being my most favorite person ever. Kami, you are so very much missed, and though we feel your absence deeply, your love is ever-present with us too…always and all ways.

Are all the CEO’s of tech companies just out there freely snorting ketamine and cocaine before being interviewed? This guy is just like Musk, and equally cartoonishly ridiculous. I wouldn’t trust him to be in charge of a PTA bake-sale, let alone an actual company.
The CEO of Palantir.

Waiting for the moonrise…as the sun sets behind me here in Utah. Woah 😮. The light and clouds were on point for sure. Just had to wait a bit and the colors took over. After the sun sets, let the light do its thing, and watch the magic of nature when it decides to cooperate!

Sunset in the Salt Lake Valley tonight. Overlooking the Oquirrh Mountains and the Bingham Copper Mine. Even giant scars can be beautiful. Don’t ever forget that.
