Thank you for posting this. I'm not an artist but I have an artist friend who's struggling and needs to hear this. Sending it their way.

Then you should care when that space is being taken over by AI, resellers, and Capital-holders who profit off other people's labor. You know, the people who 'pay the bills' and act as landlords over other people's creativity?
Fake-ass. Regulation isn't gatekeeping, that's a right wing argument.

I know some people see in-game recreations of real accidents as insensitive to folks who were injured or died but I think combined with real footage it paints a much better picture of the consequences of driving distracted or just like generally like a fucking idiot.

I haven't had this happen to me yet as I'm at the tail end of millennial but I think if I had anyone talk to me like that I might just lose it.

This isn't the future we were promised, and maybe the only winning move is not to play.

simply switching to Linux?

Call me dramatic (plausible) or a Luddite if you want (laughable), but I'm beginning to think that eventually the solution might be to do the unthinkable for one born into the Information Age: to simply... disconnect, entirely. Such a thing promises so much in (13/15)

It really does make me wonder, for as much as I've enjoyed doing what I have so far in throwing off the shackles Microsoft has slowly been tightening, at what point do I have to decide enough is enough when it comes to these other issues, most of which do not have as easy and clean a fix as (12/15)

in general the relative freedom Android offered over Apple's walled garden. It may not be so different in the near future, yet another illusion of free will in the increasingly dystopian cyberscape we find ourselves in. Maybe it was never all that different, but it hardly matters now. (11/15)

This is all before we even consider the fact that Android phones are built with all this digital detritus in mind.

Furthermore, the jaws of death have started in motion for Android, with Google moving to put an end to sideloading, which I personally did very rarely but valued the option and (10/15)

anti-consumer behavior should be illegal. In a truly functioning market, anyone who tried this would get laughed out of town and supplanted by a competitor who values the user's wishes. But that's not what we have, and that's admittedly a discussion beyond the scope of this thread. (9/15)

from corporations that claim to be doing it "for our convenience" or "to make our lives easier", only to turn around and try to punish us by doing the opposite should we dare to try to opt out, I know I'm going to have to make some sacrifices, somewhere. And I shouldn't have to, because such (8/15)

other troubling details of the organization that I can't recall at the moment.

It's disheartening because AI was one of the big factors that pushed me to make the jump to Linux, and at least I can rest assured that my operating system is free of it if I say so. (6/15)

That being said, Firefox isn't free of issues either. They've also been increasingly integrating AI features that are made deliberately cumbersome to turn off. Also worth considering are the large sums of money from Google that Mozilla receives and is reliant on, to say nothing of any (5/15)

The same goes for web browsers, as a longtime Chrome user. This one is less burdensome and is a switch I probably should've made years ago, and I don't see why I couldn't get on with another Chromium browser or Firefox just fine, the latter of which I've been slowly making my way towards. (4/15)
