The confidence is def a product of social media and also the conversations around climate change. It became more important in critical theory circles to point to something that isn't arguable and is real. See Speculative Realism, Latour's endless claims that he's a realist, etc.

I lived through it and also can't believe it. Also: Kenesaw, I think, was involved in a search one of the years I was a Brittain Fellow, and my female colleagues told me horror stories about one of the older profs asking about the sexual scenes in Ulysses (ugh).

[email protected] interestingly enough, William Blake belonged to the church of Swedonbourg a century later. He left the church b/c he found it to be too hierarchical, but definitely not b/c Swedonbourg had visions. Blake thought everyone had visions.
