The thing for me is that the core idea (fight to the death competition) was not particularly original when BR was made. The most interesting part of HG is definitely the world she builds.

I’m always stunned when I encounter people in the wild that are just like, ‘AI is great, makes everything easier.’
Then I go on bsky, just to pretend that world isn’t doomed to become an AI sloptopia. It’s a nice break from the crushing despair of reality.
