We were watching a show the other night and there was a Selectric II in the background and I said, “That’s one of the damn finest machines mankind ever made. You could plug that sumbitch in today and it’d still work and I could do maintenance on it with my eyes closed.”

Here’s what they went with and again, it’s iconic. It’s seared in my brain. But it lacks the emotion and vitality of Sienkiewicz’s paintings in my opinion.

At one point Bill Sienkiewicz was hired to do the poster for Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven. They ended up going with a photo collage that was still iconic, but I can’t help feeling like a Sienkiewicz poster would’ve been even more additive to the movie’s experience. Because wow, these are GORGEOUS.
