Generations from now, when historians study this period where we have perfect understanding of the problem, and brilliant, readily available solutions with all the resources necessary to implement them, they'll study cases like this to try to figure out why we kept drilling holes in our lifeboat.

If you're looking for the uncontrolled spread of rhododendron across hundreds of acres I can recommend the Pettigo - Donegal Town road.
Bogs still being mined there, with plantations of industrial monoculture forestry and further plantations of uncontrolled rhododendrons-an ecological embarrassment.

Personal hot take: it would have been much preferable if these talks *actually collapsed". The UNFCCC COP process is *manifestly* not fit for purpose and *must* be reformed. But with this "last ditch agreement" any prospect of reform has been stymied. Yet again.

It would appear that civil society are equally unwilling to mention the elephant in the room when it comes to agri emissions - an almost complete capture by animal agriculture. Pussy footing around the issue by eNGOs has gone on for far too long already.
