It's also, frankly, a nice looking car, which is really not true of Teslas.

The point is, outside of a select few areas, in large parts of the country you aren't "poor" by any means with family income of 150k.

They probably live in Elizabeth or Newark or Paterson?
November 26, 2025 at 4:24 PM
Like I don't think you're wrong that this approaches poverty level in Caldwell, but Caldwell is also segregated to make sure poor/middle income people can't even live there at all.

It's definitely possible in Philly, which means it's possible in a lot of the U.S.

And to be clear, our mortgage was/is about 30% less than this number, and we have a good sized house.

This was in Philadelphia.

Also, our childcare we used wasn't bare minimum but was pretty good, and not a place that most people would go, so I don't know that, even if that cost was roughly correct, I'd consider myself poor for barely being able to afford it.
November 26, 2025 at 4:15 PM
My mortgage was significantly less than that. We had one car, which we bought used, and otherwise took transit. childcare was less, although not that much less.
November 26, 2025 at 4:14 PM
I dunno, when my second kid was born, my family made less than that and I didn't consider myself poor.

Because a lot of people will be perfectly happy with free content online? I mean, that's clearly the case now.

Yes but a much smaller percentage of the population will have access/choose to pay for this, so we'll have majorities stuck in slopland.

"Pete Hegseth is angry at mirrors" also checks out.

As you can see, the novel came first, so the first Star Wars movie is an adaptation of the best-selling book.

That is an EXCELLENT analogy. I'd also say that Long Blondes:Pulp::TLDP:Suede.

I loved Rogue One when I saw it in theaters. I watched it again right before Andor Season 2 and . . .

Return of the Jedi is the only movie in the original trilogy that actually improves by watching it in the context of the prequels.
November 24, 2025 at 8:55 PM
Yes! And it looks AMAZING.
November 24, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Those outfits are honestly the only thing in that show that are likely to actually show up in the 24th century.
November 24, 2025 at 8:48 PM
No, no I get it!
November 24, 2025 at 8:30 PM
no, not at all! But it's also not always a necessity. Which I think is the difference here. I'm not deprived because I'm in a 1-car household.
