About to rewatch Star Trek: Insurrection for the first time since I was 14. Not sure how well it'll hold up (I liked it a lot) but one thing I'm going to say is that everyone who goes "Oh the Ba'ku totally use technology and are fakeass because they irrigate their crops" are missing the damn point.

I mentioned last night the flattening of culture. There’s also the flattening of language and the anesthetizing of the arts happening & so much stylistically is being replicated & it’s largely because of algorithms. True creativity is breaking out of that replication.

I mean I could tell that Sinners had some inspiration/DNA from Tarantino films but then the next night I watched From Dusk Til Dawn with my parents and it was actually kind of surprising.

Very annoying when you get to write a conversation you've been planning for weeks and then it turns out you forgot how the wording of the convo is going to go. Oops.

The eternal struggle of doing a writing challenge based on wordcount is whether to work on your wip or start a new thing. Treating it like a 'eat your veggies before you have cake' sitch helps, admittedly.

The fun part of writing a book (that's a lie there are lots of fun parts of writing a book) is when you take all these lovable characters and kill them off. >:)

I've been showing my friends Star Trek: The Next Generation using a watch guide to skip some of the bad eps and it's a little funny how many times a character's shown up and I've had to go "oh yeah this guy's introduced in a bad episode I didn't show you"
