There's also a wrinkle of primaries—if most of the white voters in an overall blue district are republicans, the Democratic primary may not actually be majority white.

Fun fact about the All-Chicago map is that tho it doesn't have any majority-minoritu districts, minority rep is the metric it does best on!
It would also likely get a fair number of minority reps, because the *Dem* voting pop in a lot of these districts is majority-minority, shaping primaries

It's obviously not the point, but *this* is the colleague who sparked his rant about how dems are the not fun, not sex, drugs, and rock and roll party.
