Fun fact about the All-Chicago map is that tho it doesn't have any majority-minoritu districts, minority rep is the metric it does best on!

It would also likely get a fair number of minority reps, because the *Dem* voting pop in a lot of these districts is majority-minority, shaping primaries

This Indiana proposal just means it's finally time for Illinois to threaten the ultimate map!

It's obviously not the point, but *this* is the colleague who sparked his rant about how dems are the not fun, not sex, drugs, and rock and roll party.

Lots of Polish people live in the Midwest! (Not just in Chicago, but also a lot in Chicago)

Genuinely did a deeper dive for this reason, and nope, definitely real. She was listed in the published Federal Register in 2023

It's hard to adjust to almost all images being suspect these days, even when they aren't fully AI generated.

Here, someone seems to have recolored the Mamdani image from a real event

Since someone cracked and took one for the team, it's clear that Ryan Lizza reversed convention and put the most explicit (and scarring) content in front of, not behind, the paywall.

But this is a major new accusation of Nuzzi killing stories (and more) for RFK Jr.

I am sorry and I now regret this

There are vote dilution claims in the case, but panel here expressly did not reach them.

This injunction is entirely based on evidence of racial gerrymandering (constitutional claims).

"Here, the grand jury’s role in this case is over and the statute of limitations has expired so there is no danger that release of grand jury materials could impact future grand jury proceedings."

In addition to the vital dog content, I love the jab at the "discerning wisdom of King Solomon"

(I have a gripe about how lawyers often use "split the baby" when they mean each side taking a partial win. That's not what happened in the story! One side got the whole baby!!)

This is an absolutely wild set of choices.

Also, it's very possible he was exaggerating, but I want to know which 23 of these 32 people "agreed in principle"

Here's more of his reasoning from the piece, which also explains his senior status.

(His replacement was appointed by Obama more than a decade ago)

He really does, though.

"However, the Supreme Court has repeatedly removed the temporary restraints imposed on those actions by lower courts in deciding emergency motions on its 'shadow docket' with little, if any, explanation."
November 9, 2025 at 5:24 PM
He explains his thought process (and senior status) very clearly in the piece.

I tend to think there's still value in stalwart senior judges staying on the bench, but it's certainly a much closer call than it is for an active judge replaced by Trump
November 9, 2025 at 5:14 PM
Lol, I tested this not too long ago and it is possible to make a map with minimal population variety between districts and >10% partisan lean in all districts!

Be brave Illinois!
