Going old school this week! #Cassunday. With "liquid" and "Y2K" drum & bass as popular as ever with today's generations, I've pulled out a tape from an old Muzik magazine: a sampler of artists from the label Metalheadz - many of whom I saw live back in the 1990s.
A tape stands on a white surface, and its cover reads: Goldie presents the metalheadz sessions, featuring Doc Scott, Hotel, Rufige Cru, Lemon D, J Majik, Dillinja. Crooked Merton Council, now experiencing community members cutting down its CCTV cameras trapping unsuspecting motorists down a road they shut with no signs to indicate its closure, are now paying someone to sit in car - engine running next to a school - indiscriminately filming everyone inc kids.

#31DaysOfHalloween Day 30! And at some point today, around family time, I need to squeeze in the 2004 (but feels very 90s & is lovingly low budget) Satan's Little Helper. It comes across as a made for TV Disney movie gone mad, as a kid befriends a masked serial killer over a Halloween spree.

#31DaysOfHalloween Day 29, and we're getting close but had to go to a back-up family safe movie, as it's still half term & son is up with a bad cough. Subtitles on then, and it's Tim Burton's 1990 suburban gothic - with a cameo from master of horror Vincent Price - Edward Scissorhands.

#31DaysOfHalloween Day 28, & with it being half term school holiday - and after a day of fun at a theme park - it's a family friendly movie: Hocus Pocus 2.

#31DaysOfHalloween Day 27, and tonight it's a beloved movie which I first saw I guess in the 90s. Monster Squad [1987]. A strange one as the kids are 12 years old, yet the movie had a 15 rating so landed in a weird place with audiences. I have a soft spot for it though.
The poster is all large scary monster faces in a line, with our young protagonists leaning on a car bonnet looking super cool and kick ass as a central image. The monsters are all in midnight blue hue, but our heroes are brightly coloured and very 80s.

We hosted an annual Halloween Party today, for our son and his friends. I didnt have a costume sorted, so I dressed as @neonfawkes.com instead! Amusing that I was the only person to get the reference.
Rob is standing in a modern kitchen with marble style tiles, and dark blue cabinets - wearing a tee of Canadian synthwave DJ Neon Fawkes, and a silver "Guido Fawkes" mask - often associated with Anonymous and anti authoritarianism dissent.

#31DaysOfHalloween Day 26, and a firm favourite of mine, possibly the original 'old haunted mansion' movie (and definitely an influence on things like Rocky Horror; a dark & stormy night, a broken down car, having to approach an old dark house for refuge...). Old Dark House [1932].

#31DaysOfHalloween Day 25, double bill today, watching along with (very sickly kid) the child friendly Halloweentown2 [2001], and then when he's gone to bed - the Halloween episode of Psychoville [2010].
The one and only Debbie Reynolds is the grandma witch, and her head appears to the left behind a spooky lit up pumpkin. On the right is her movie granddaughter - who is like a witch in training or some shit. The cast of Psychoville appear in a classic 'circus' illustration; mainly consisting of Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton characters. "David Sowerbutts" appears large in a Frankenstein costume.
