The way that we do this in neuroimaging (with 3D brains), is to just to have 3 different views of the same plot but highlighting 2 dimensions at a time. You can't see everything in one plot, but you can as a whole.

Folks do the same thing with the results of 3D multidimensional scaling solutions.

11yo Daughter: Light joke tailored to my interests. Pure, clever sweetness.

8yo Son: Our cat peeing on a hippo (my favorite animal) who is also peeing while they both eat lettuce. Unhinged chaotic sweetness.

"Metaphorical brain talk" is a seductive habit that I see everywhere. I feel strongly it creates more confusion than clarity, even when invoked for causes that are just (e.g., neurodiversity). If we want to talk about brain things, we have to take the brain seriously.

I love SANS, this year was no exception. Happy to get to see @dfearagon.bsky.social present a slice of the stuff we've been working on, and catch up with some of my favorite people. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Finally, @markthornton.bsky.social reveals his true self.... (as well as a very balanced argument about the use of AI/deep-learning in psychology and neuroscience)

We found both allocentric & egocentric similarity during interpersonal perception were represented in non-overlapping brain systems and in opposite directions. This has important implications for psychological theories of social perception and the interpretation of brain activity during mentalizing.

The round-robin design allowed us to calculate behavioral similarity ratings based on both subjective within-perceiver ratings of targets as well as group-consensus ratings of targets to model to neural similarly measures. (spoiler: within-subject easily worked the best)
