@rob.cooked.social
building a social app-creation system with a small team.
it evolves daily and still isn't what I want it to be yet, but we’re into it.
I design and code things and have a dependent/dysfunctional AI relationship.

posting updates as we go.

I'm rob. I work on cooked with a tiny team.
it's a social app-creation system we built from scratch.
I'll be posting updates here so people can see what we're doing under the hood while we keep scaling this thing.
I see reports from companies saying AI is actually slowing down their programming and making it worse. I get something like a 2-10x from it, but I run myself ragged mentally applying structure and architecture to the prompts. I think this is some kind of indicator

to work hard you actually have to make yourself work hard. it doesn't always just happen

do you end up designing a complex system or solving major world problems - but only when you've stood in hot water for 20+ minutes?
December 5, 2025 at 1:09 AM
do you actually like to code? do you find that you are doing so much more now with AI but it's really not the same job it once was?

tell you what, if bluesky ever adds miniapp support we will have cooked fully integrated for your social meme app creation pleasure and we will do it up real nice for ya

the safest code is the code that'll never run... because you forgot to enable the feature entirely

how the sushi place up the street from me is relatively cheap and has unbelievably good salmon nigiri and I don't understand how they do it

I love our little mascot.

real multitasking is more exhausting than most things. I used to be able to just focus on my one task I was on but now with ai agents doing most of the work, I'm more like a manager running 2-3 teams. it's wild how much i'm creating though.

making a good, like actually good for the users, notification system is surprisingly complex
December 4, 2025 at 7:57 PM
finally getting quality notifications integrated. you'll find out when your friends are using your app or beat you in a game or when someone remixes your app, etc

one thing i'm finding very challenging about designing and developing a big platform is that even with a truly amazing product person and ui/ux expert, we struggle to bring forward the actual depth of functionality we've created to the user. it's so hard to do well.

i have written so much python this year
December 3, 2025 at 2:32 AM
i want ai to be a perfectionist about the code it designs in the same way i am but it's not and i just don't have time to be like that anymore

all the best ideas come once you walk away to do something else for a bit

need so many more hours in each day

when you go run a test suite and find you have completely unrelated problems you have to deal with half the day before getting to the actual task again

i think i’ll probably follow a lot of people here.
trying to get a read on the broader vibe of everyone online so we can make cooked into something everyone actually likes
December 1, 2025 at 4:14 AM
anyone familiar with this space might look at cooked and assume it’s another no-code generator.
it’s really not. the architecture underneath runs actual full-stack apps and can pivot them at scale in real time.
probably the coolest thing i’ve ever built, and i’ve built some stuff i really liked.
