I remember when the California legislature couldn’t pass a budget in time for the new fiscal year. Then voters passed Prop 25 which tied lawmaker pay to an on-time budget. Each day the budget was late they permanently forfeited their pay. Made a big difference in getting a budget passed each year.

you should also draw attention to the Speaker adjourning the House during the shutdown but they’re still getting paid. They get a paid vacation while federal employees will be unpaid, even those not furloughed. Even the military will be unpaid while one side of the House hides.

We should never have allowed someone wanted by the ICC on American soil, full stop. Better yet, arrest him and turn him over to The Hague.

The Guardian says this was first mentioned in a May podcast so too late for the health department to do anything. I emailed the local newspaper to see if they want to write a story about it.

And wondering if it’s beneficial to see if the newspaper wants to call attention to it, although at the risk of giving him a platform. They do provide fair coverage in an extremely conservative city.
