In a significantly weirder case, "Sleeping Lady with Black Vase" is a 1928 oil painting by Róbert Berény. It was lost in WWII, and considered looted by the Nazis and likely destroyed afterwards in the chaos... until someone recognized it as set dressing in the movie "Stuart Little."
Yes, really.

That is a delightful deep cut and, as a celebrant of the holiday, I appreciate the inclusivity on display here.

Selective Availability was in place until 2000. And basically right after it got shut off, geocaching was invented. Because you weren't restricted to accuracy of "within some unspecified number of yards" of a specific location.

Yeah, I think I saw the uncolorized version of that first, then the Moroder colorized version of it. The 2010 adds a whole bunch of footage and parts of the story make WAY MORE SENSE. I got to see it with live music by Alloy Orchestra (much melodic mechanical clanging.)

I remember when I saw the restored version from 2010. First time I had seen the movie was in the 80's when it was missing large chunks and I'd been sort of "well, we were still learning the medium, I guess, it's okay?" and then 2010 hit and jesus, no, it's just brilliant from the get-go.
