Nothing is symmetric on this Rareplane vacuform kit. A copy of the wing root profile serves as a template for getting the body join to shape and for aligning wing incidence. 🤓

Punched 6mm discs as a guide for getting the rear end of the nacelles to shape. The disc resembles to hole to be drilled for the exhaust stacks, which are two flattened tubes per side. I guess I‘ll make those from brass tubing.

Punched 10mm discs to get front end of the nacelles to circular shape and reduce edge radius. Ammo black slow dry super glue is used as a filler.

Sanding tool made from LEGO, sticky tape, and 400 grit sandpaper - making sure that the propellers will be in the same vertical plane. 🤓

The empennage needs an 0.75 mm shim to fit with the fuselage in width. Also adds a bit of thickness to the fin, which was too slender.

Turns out the fuselage halves are quite flexible and warped after cutting, so some stiffeners need to be added. Best done *before* cutting the part from the baseplate, not like I did. 😆

I use a black marker on the contours of the parts before scoring around them lightly with a scalpel. When breaking off the baseplate in sections as scored, this leaves a thin white border visualizing the baseplate thickness thats need to be sanded off.

Using UHU tac to move the part across 400 grit sandpaper.

I have a few Rareplanes vacuform kits in my stash. Hope they are better fitting than the Airmodel XF2Y Sea Dart that I binned. 🙂

These plastic drawer carts come in handy. I use one for tools, and another one for work in process - filled from top to bottom… 😬

…and a little bit of white glue for these ‚antler’ thingies helping the driver to judge the width of his vehicle…what do you call them in English!

DIY rearview mirror looks good, but I really have to find a better representation of the gun.

The Damascus mishap is the subject of „Command and Control“ by Eric Schlosser. A fascinating rundown of the struggle of a few men to avert disaster.

One of the takesways I remember is that at the time, all military personnel below the rank of Major was deemed expendable…

The Amodel Voyager is finally getting its white top coat. Made quite a few modifications to the crude kit, only to see the new Sova-M kit released.
At least I have a source for the landing gear and the propellers now! 😛

Final grey primer is on, a few sputters will need to be sanded off before applying 2-3 white topcoats.
The A&A model took quite some effort to make things fit and aligned, but is does look like a Super King Air 350 now.

The RP Toolz punch & die set is great for making perfectly round tail lights, 1mm here.

Nothing spectacular, just an old Airfix 1/76 SdKfz 222 someone put up for grabs at our club meeting. I gave it an OOB job just for fun.

I think Scholzing covers that.
